Over the weekend, I tackled the Fred Whitton Challenge in support of Macmillan Cancer Research.
Renowned as one of the toughest sportives in the UK, this event is dubbed 'The Daddy of them all' by Cycling Weekly and is comparable in difficulty to European classics like the Marmotte.
The Wheelbase Fred Whitton Challenge is more than just a ride - it's a tribute to the late Fred Whitton, a passionate advocate for cycling in Cumbria. In his honour, the event remains a true test of endurance.
Covering 112 miles around the Lake District, the challenge features climbs including Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott, Wrynose, and Blea Tarn passes.
Despite my limited training time, I'm thrilled to have completed this demanding ride. Fancy a bike ride? Do let me know!
