"I'm thrilled to have Alastair with us. He embodies the progress our Conservative campaigns are achieving, drawn also to my vision for the entire constituency."
On Monday, members of Westmorland and Lonsdale Conservatives selected Alastair Hibbert to run as their candidate in Grange and Cartmel.
Mr Hibbert a 30-year-old self-employed artist has lived in Cartmel for over 20 years. He is a keen volunteer at his local church and local county shows. He explores the fells and lakes on foot and by bike.
A lover of his local area, Mr Hibbert wishes to see the Grange and Cartmel area properly represented on Westmorland and Furness Council.
His key aims include ensuring the Grange Lido is fully restored to its former glory, improving transport links, fixing local roads and also working to improve the recycling infrastructure.
Mr Hibbert is also campaigning for improved facilities for local children and is keen to see projects to level up the promenade.
Mr Hibbert said:
"I am delighted that members of the Westmorland and Lonsdale Conservatives have picked me as their candidate for this election.
"Grange and Cartmel is my home and I want to fight to improve it. From the Grange railway line to fixing potholes, local transport is currently inadequate for our rural area.
"I am delighted that works to Grange Lido are taking place and I commend the council for actually doing something after so many years. However, we need to make the pool functional and not just fill it in.
“I think it is time for change on Westmorland and Furness Council, and I look forward to speaking to residents about their local issues as I campaign hard to earn their trust.”
Commenting, Matty Jackman said:
"Alastair's commitment to Grange and Cartmel is evident, and he will play a pivotal role in driving positive change forward."
"I'm thrilled to have Alastair with us. He embodies the progress our Conservative campaigns are achieving, drawn also to my vision for the entire constituency."
"Alastair is ready to hit the campaign trail. Together, we'll engage voters, share our vision, and earn their trust and support. This is an exciting time for Grange and Cartmel, and for Conservatives throughout Westmorland and Lonsdale."
