I had a fantastic time at the Cumbria Deaf Association coffee morning in Kendal today!
It was a great opportunity to connect and learn from such an essential organisation that has supported D/deaf individuals across Cumbria for 130 years!
We had insightful discussions about community support, navigating healthcare appointments, and the crucial role of home support for independent living, among other topics and challenges faced in Cumbria and rural communities.
I'm grateful to CDA for providing an interpreter and for their dedication to supporting their community.
During the meeting, we also discussed crucial topics/concerns such as funding decisions by the Council, education and awareness.
While this meeting and this post is only a small step, I do encourage everyone to visit CDA's website at https://www.cumbriadeaf.org.uk/ for more information.
Thank you for such a meaningful, open, and informative session.
As near neighbours in Kendal, I'm looking forward to being back soon!
P.S. In particular, I enjoyed the 'CEO Chat' pieces on the News tab! Caroline is doing an amazing job fighting for the Cumbria Deaf Association to make sure it best helps deaf people and their families living in Cumbria to achieve "educational, physical, social, and spiritual well-being".
