This week was busy and brilliant! Here is an insight into some of the things I have done this week:
This week, we hit the streets of Allithwaite, Grange, and Cartmel, connecting with locals and learning about their concerns. From door-to-door chats to casual gatherings, our focus was on reaching out to the community. Alastair, our Council Candidate, is the perfect fit for Grange and Cartmel. He's a local with boundless energy, transparent in his approach, and eager to serve. Show your support for him on May 2, 2024.
One highlight of the week was the Marmalade Festival at Dalemain Mansion. I enjoyed engaging in conversations with attendees while savouring delicious marmalade treats. It was also a pleasure catching up with Gareth from Pure Lakes!
Another memorable experience was visiting MARL International Ltd, where we discussed the challenges and opportunities facing small and medium-sized businesses in our area. Encouraging entrepreneurship is crucial for our community's growth. Businesses need to feel supported and welcomed. With me, you have that assurance!
Then, there was the trip to the J36 Auction Mart with PFCC candidate Mike Johnson. Surrounded by the lively atmosphere of the auction, we had meaningful conversations with supporters. I didn't end up purchasing anything, but it was a close call! The café served a fantastic brew, and I couldn't resist a sausage bap either.
I also joined a delightful breakfast event in Penrith hosted by the Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club. It was a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a meal together and catch up, thanks to Kerryanne's dedication to organising the event. I had a wonderful time chatting and sharing stories with everyone, and I'm eager to return soon.
I also joined our members at the public debate on the Windermere Gateway project. The room was alive with passionate discussions, and I heard all the concerns voiced by locals about the project. This project must undergo meticulous planning and execution. Priority should be given to addressing critical issues like sewage management, ensuring no negative impact on water systems and Windermere. Additionally, managing traffic flow on the A951 and adhering to a clear timeline for project delivery are essential. Furthermore, any housing developments must align closely with the needs and preferences of our
residents. I'm closely monitoring this project, as are many others. While the need for housing is evident, it's equally important that the process is managed effectively to ensure a positive outcome.
It's been a busy and varied week, meeting with farmers, locals, veterans, businesses, developers, and more.
Connecting with our community and understanding their needs is what it's all about.
These moments, whether chatting over marmalade treats or at the auction mart, keep our campaign moving forward as we strive to serve YOU.
(I also made time for a fell race and continued my work in the defence sector. Enjoying all the adventures!)
I'm here to fight for you, so please reach out and get in touch soon.
