Matty Jackman, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Westmorland and Lonsdale, is excited by the measures announced in the 2024 budget.
Jobs up, growth up, taxes down. This is the turning point that puts the Conservatives on a firm footing for the next General Election.
This budget stands as a testament to the Conservative Party's unwavering commitment to offer support to every member of our community. From working families to pensioners, families with young children, and entrepreneurs, everyone is accounted for.
With inflation more than halved (from 11% to 4%), and predicted by the OBR to fall to below 2% in a couple of months, national borrowing and debt is coming down, and the government can afford to freeze fuel and alcohol duty.
UK growth will surpass, France, Japan, and other European nations in the next three to five years. As the Chancellor made clear, why would anyone choose an opposition who clearly have no plan at all? In fact, the Chancellor went out of his way to point out that the Lib Dems were happy to support fiscal constraints when in coalition, but now are rushing to support tax and spend labour. ! Labour and Lib Dems: no plans – no principles.
Matty Jackman, who met the Chancellor last week for a briefing, sees direct benefits for Westmorland and Lonsdale.
Firstly, the furnished holiday lettings relief is to be abolished helping to return homes to local residents. With the VAT ceiling lifted and full expensing extended, much-needed support will come for smaller local firms.
The Chancellor emphasised the UK’s world-leading position in cutting-edge technology and creative / heritage industries – both of which Matty Jackman wishes to encourage in the region.
Matty Jackman is dedicated to bringing high-value, high-paying jobs to Westmorland and Lonsdale, ensuring a prosperous future for you, your children, and your grandchildren.
With more money (£3.4bn) for the NHS, and an emphasis on public service efficiency, rafts of public service boosts are on their way. With the North East becoming a trailblazer for greater local devolution, the Conservative Government will take its levelling-up commitment to a new level.
The Conservatives are also abolishing the Non-Dom status to generate more funds for tax cuts and there are much-needed plans afoot to help people out of debt. There will also be renewed emphasis on the back-to-work plan.
Commenting, Matty Jackman said:
“These are all positive commitments to long-term, concrete progress.”
“Sound economic handling has allowed all this to be possible.”
“So, for the second year in a row, the Conservatives have cut tax to give much-needed help to working families while maintaining the pensions lock and targeting growth. This is a real plan – a positive plan for all of us for the future.”
“Better connectivity boosts productivity for businesses and unlocks new digital opportunities for people in every corner of the country, as the Conservative Government sticks to the plan to help to grow the economy and create a brighter future for all.”
“The Budget for Long Term Growth sticks to the plan by delivering lower taxes, better public services and more investment. Locals in Westmorland and Lonsdale will experience the positive impacts of these measures.”
