Today marks one year since I was selected as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Westmorland and Lonsdale (GE24).
Our party has encountered many challenges this year, but it has also been a year full of purpose and enjoyment.
One General Election, three by-elections, and one leadership contest—politics is never quiet!
It feels fitting to remember the words of Churchill on his birthday: "Never, never, never give up."
Thank you for your incredible support over the past year—together, we made a real impact.
And as Churchill also reminded us: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts."
We must continue...
Looking ahead, we must seize the opportunities to expose and address Labour's ongoing failures:
Labour’s “Family Farms Tax” is a direct attack on hardworking Cumbrian farmers, driving them toward financial ruin and jeopardising our nation's food security.
Meanwhile, their heartless removal of the winter fuel allowance is leaving pensioners to freeze in their homes—an unforgivable and disgraceful failure.
On top of this, Labour’s relentless tax burden is crushing families, farmers, and businesses, demonstrating a shocking lack of understanding or empathy for the struggles people and businesses face.
And let’s not forget the cronyism and sleaze that surrounds them—a clear sign of a government in disarray. Labour isn’t just failing; they’re a total mess.
As for the Liberals, their hollow promises will not go unchallenged. The truth—the whole truth—about their operation will come to light, exposing their disservice to our communities for what it is.
Our mission remains clear:
- Hold Labour and the Liberals to account for their reckless policies and failures.
- Strengthen the Conservative family in Westmorland and Lonsdale to ensure we are always fighting for the people who depend on us.
- Recruit passionate and determined members and councillors to represent our communities and stand up for families, farmers, pensioners, and workers.
The next four years in Cumbria will matter more than ever.
Together, we must fight to protect and preserve what makes our community strong. We need our council back and we need our future back.
Have a wonderful Christmas period, and again, thank you for an unforgettable year.
The fight continues—and we will win it together.
